FAQ's

What are the potential side effects with Wrinkle Relaxing Injections?

Wrinkle relaxing injections are very safe and have been comprehensively tested over many years. However in some cases, the below may be potential side effects:

Some bruising or swelling at injection sites.

Some tenderness at injection site.

A minor risk of localised infection.

A rare risk of ptosis (drooping) of eyelids and eyebrows.

Allergic reactions are rare.

Why should I choose Wrinkle Relaxing Injections?

Research has shown that if a person in their late 20’s begins a course of Wrinkle Relaxing Injections, it has resulted in a significant reduction in the development of wrinkles and fine lines in later life. This is due to the Botulinum Toxin Type A allowing the muscle to rest and recuperate, causing muscle memory loss, which in turn halts the production of wrinkles and lines.

It is worth remembering that Wrinkle Relaxing Injections are only effective on dynamic lines (lines caused by muscle contraction), sleep lines and gravity lines cannot be treated by BTx-A.

What are the post treatment instructions for wrinkle relaxing injections?

After your Wrinkle Relaxing Injections there is a protocol to follow. It is highly important that you follow all advice given in order to maximise the effect of the BTx-A and to lower the risk of complications post procedure.

You are advised not to lay down or lean forward for 4-6 hours post procedure.

You are advised not to drink alcohol for 4-6 hours post procedure.

It is highly important that you do not touch the treated areas at all for 24 hours post procedure. This includes the application of makeup, washing, fiddling and rubbing.

What happens during the Wrinkle Relaxing Injection treatment?

Wrinkle relaxing injections take around 30 mins to administer. I will do a full and thorough examination of areas we agree to treat, mark the face correctly and precisely, before injecting the toxin into these specific areas using a disposable micro needle. Treatment is often pain free.

How long do Wrinkle Relaxing Injections last?

Wrinkle relaxing injections often begin to show results 2-4 days post treatment but may take up to 2 weeks post procedure to take full effect. Depending on age and lifestyle factors, the effects can last for up to 12 weeks. I offer a 2 week follow up appointment after every treatment, so that we can conduct a review.  Further toxin may be administered at this review if I feel it is required in order to maximise results, in discussion with the client. If another toxin vial is required at review, this will be charged in accordance with my pricing scheme, and is dependent on brand.

What are the post treatment instructions for Soft Tissue Enhancements?

Avoid wearing makeup for at least 12 hours post procedure.

You are advised not to drink alcohol for 4-6 hours post procedure.

You are advised not to take part in extreme physical activity for 4-6 hours post procedure.

Do not touch or massage filler sites, unless instructed to do so.

You are advised not to use sun beds, saunas, steam rooms or be exposed to extreme heat for at least 48 hours post procedure.

What are the potential side effects from having Soft Tissue Enhancements?

Dermal fillers are widely acknowledged to be safe to use. They contain hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the skin. They are engineered with biotechnologically obtained hyaluronic acid which is obtained by bacterial fermentation (Streptococcus strain), this lowers the risk of contamination from animal sources and is therefore non-pathogenic for humans (hypoallergenic). However, there is the rare risk of a reaction due to the stabilisation molecules.

You may experience erythema (redness of the skin).

There may be swelling to injection areas, in particular the lips. This can be resolved with ice.

Some discomfort may be expected, which is resolved with paracetamol.

Bruising may be present at injection sites, treated with arnica.

Who cannot receive Soft Tissue Enhancements?

If you are pregnant or nursing.

If you have a history of anaphylactic shock.

Have you undergone laser skin resurfacing or received a skin peel in the past six weeks.

If you have  active facial herpes simplex or have any active skin conditions, e.g. acne or psoriasis.

If you have received Roaccutane in the past 12 months.

If you are currently undergoing dental surgery.

What happens during the Soft Tissue Enhancement treatment?

Soft Tissue Enhancement takes around 45 minutes to administer. I will do a full and thorough examination of areas we agree to treat, before injecting the filler in a series of small injections into these specific areas. The areas are then gently massaged to ensure all lines are softened and the dermal filler sits smoothly under the skin. Some treatments may require the application of local anaesthetic cream prior to the procedure. I also offer a dental block if clients require this in order to proceed with treatment.

How long do Soft Tissue Enhancements last?

Dependent on age and lifestyle, dermal fillers can last anywhere between 6 – 12 months. Most of the effects of the dermal filler will be immediate, the full effect will be present within 2 weeks post procedure. I offer a 2 week follow up appointment after every treatment, so that we can conduct a review.  Further filler may be administered at this review if I feel it is required in order to maximise results, in discussion with the client. If another 1 ml syringe is required at review, this will be charged in accordance with my pricing scheme, and is dependent on brand. Please note, if another brand of filler has been used, a 6 month period must be observed before changing the brand.
